CIB preparing to submit investigative report

Kathmandu: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has started the preparation for submitting the investigative report on the gold smuggling scandal.

Nepal Police Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General of Police Kuber Kadayat said that the preparations were going on to submit the investigative report by Wednesday.

The investigation of organized crime would reach 60 days on 17th September (31st Bhadra). And within that time, the case needs to be filed in the court. CIB Head Additional Inspector General of Police Kiran Bajracharya said that the investigation was almost finished and some technical formalities were to be concluded.

Police have already arrested 31 people in the gold smuggling scandal. 30 out of the 31 people are in police custody. Custom employees, Nepali, Indian, and Chinese citizens are among the arrested ones.

The investigation found that Chinese citizens had Nepali citizenship. CIB even suspected the involvement of Custom employees. CIB even arrested Nayab Subba Kamal Pariyar and Birendra Nepali along with NSAR officer Pushpa Joshi.

Department of Revenue Investigation had seized 155 kilos of 'Brake Shoe' on 19th July. The gold was smuggled from Hong Kong. It was hidden along with the brake shoe. The Mint Division found the final weight of the gold as 60 kg 789 grams.
