Kathmandu: CPN(UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli has opposed the amnesty, given by the President to the prisoners, on Constitution Day.

Oli said that the deduction of the jail sentence was an encouragement for violent incidents and questioned the existence of justice in the country. He showed disagreement with the government for excusing the 10-year jail sentence for acid attackers.

Likewise, Oli said that the government didn’t even give the treatment expenses to the acid victim Muskan Khatun.

He said, 'Muskan Khatun is a girl who grabbed the attention of not only national but international community. The wounds of Muskan are still fresh. Her treatment is going on. And the government has released the acid attacker. She is crying. The government has not even thought about her treatment. The government has not been able to provide treatment or manage anything else for her. It has been about 4 years since that deadly incident. There was a celebration for introducing strict laws. Females were happy. Our sisters were feeling secured. But, the culprits have been released. I forgot the actual date. They were freed either on Falgun 7 or Constitution Day. They were compelled to keep them in jail for four years. Then, they were released with an excuse. There is no justice in the country. Or this is what justice is called? Why the law needs to fix the punishment? Government makes a rule, and this is the reality.'

Oli questioned if the law was not to be implemented, and what is the need to fix the punishment.
