Kathmandu: India has signed an agreement with Nepal to purchase 10 thousand Megawatt electricity for 10 years.

The secretary-level bilateral meeting, held in the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, signed the agreement regarding the electricity purchase.

Nepal's Secretary of Energy Gopal Prasad Sigdel and his counterpart Pankaj Agrawal signed the agreement. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the India visit of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', announced that India would buy 10 thousand Megawatt electricity for 10 years.

After the agreement between Nepal and India, electricity transactions would take place as per the goods supply between the nations.
