5,000 households in Mugu without electricity

Mugu: Five thousand households in the district are without access to electricity and the residents are living in darkness.
The students have been affected much due to the lack of power supply. There are approximately 5,000 households in the district and of these 5,000 are without electricity. The households deprived of power are managed by solar lamps and burning the traditional dry pine splinter (diyalo) for lighting their homes.
People of these households are facing problems charging their mobile phones and operating other electrical appliances, let alone running industries. Similarly, one thousand out of a total of 2,546 households in the Chhayanath Rara Municipality, the only municipality in the district, do not have electricity.
Likewise, all 3,651 households in Khatyad rural municipality are without power and are dependent on the erratic solar lamp and the traditional 'diyalo'. The construction of the Birabagar Hydroelectricity Project, initiated to generate power to supply all houses in the rural municipality, has been in limbo for the last five years.
Similarly, the locals of 55 settlements from ward number 1 to 11 of Soru rural municipality do not have a power supply to their homes. A 60-kilowatt capacity solar power plant has been set up at Sorukot, the rural municipality headquarters, but this is not adequate for the rural municipality to deliver services.
Although the national transmission line has been extended to Gamgadhi, the district headquarters, on September 11, 2023, locals complained that the power supply through this is unreliable.
