Knife attack on Traffic Police Constable in Sarlahi


Kathmandu: A traffic policeman has been stabbed with a knife at the District Traffic Police Office, Nawalpur in Sarlahi district Friday.
According to the Chief of the District Traffic Police Office and Police Inspector Madan Thapa, Traffic Police Constable Pramod Mahato of Gaushala Municipality-3, Mahottari stabbed with a knife at the District Traffic Police Office, Nawalpur.
Similarly, Officiating Spokesman and Police Inspector Om Prakash Yadav said that Mahato came under attack when he entered the office after handing over to a driver a receipt for paying the penalty for a traffic rule violation following checking on vehicles along the East-West highway outside the Office.
The attacker has been identified as Yamamuddin Deman of Rajpur-1, Rautahat, who came on a motorcycle with registration number plate Na 19 Pa 2555 coming from the west and heading east on the East-West highway in front of the
Likewise, Yadav said that Deman who tried to abscond away after stabbing Mahato was promptly taken under control and kept in police custody at Lalbandi.
Police said Mahato sustained an injury in the forehead, neck, hands, and abdomen due to the knife attack. He has been taken to National Medical College Birgunj for advanced treatment following general treatment at a local health facility. Further investigation is underway in this connection.
