Former Speaker Mahara gives his statement to gold smuggling inquiry committee

Kathmandu: Former Speaker and CPN (Maoist Centre) Krishna Bahadur Mahara has given his statement on the case of the gold smuggling, inside electronic cigarettes (vape).

The gold inquiry committee called Mahara to the office and took his statement to Singhadurbar on Thursday. The committee, formed in coordination with the former High Court Judge Dilliram Acharya, called Mahara for his statement.

Mahara's statement has not been made public yet. Nine kilograms of gold smuggling through vape was seized at Tribhuvan International Airport’s Customs Department on 12th February (Magh 29). Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) had taken Mahara's son Rahul in custody while investigating the case.
