Minister Limbu: Govt. at work to provide leading role to youths


Kathmandu: Minister for Youths and Sports Dig Bahadur Limbu has said the government was at work to mainstream youth leadership by catering skills and fostering entrepreneurship among youths.
Giving a message of best wishes on the occasion of the ninth anniversary of the National Youth Council on Saturday, Minister Limbu reminded that the government was in action to transfer leadership roles to the youths having novel thoughts. Youths should be brought to leadership roles in every sector, he underlined.
'Youths comprise 42.56 percent of the total population in the country. It is the government's priority to link youths to skills, entrepreneurship, and industry with capacity and leadership development,' Minister Limbu said, saying that the National Youth Policy would be updated to incorporate issues of youths and ensure their secure future in the country.
The Minister further viewed self-dependent youths as are backbone to nation building, so their innovative thoughts are essential. He informed me that the current year was announced as the youth entrepreneurship promotion year.
On the same occasion, Council's Vice Chairman Surendra Basnet, also attached emphasis on youth's capacity building with skills and leadership quality. Healthy and industrious youths are the foundation of prosperous Nepal, according to him.
For the holistic development of youths, our activities should be aligned with the constitution, SDGs, a commitment made at global forums, national planning reports, National Youth Policy, Youth Vision 2025, and a 10-year Strategic Plan.
The National Youth Council was established in 2072BS in a bid to mainstream youths in national development and policy by protecting their rights. The Council has extended its presence in all seven provinces and districts. Various programs were organized to mark the anniversary of the National Youth Council.
