Krishna Bahadur Mahara arrested

Kathmandu: Former Speaker and CPN (Maoist Centre) Vice Chairperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara has been arrested.

Mahara who was alleged involvement in the gold smuggling was arrested by the Lumbini Police, Bhairahawa.  Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane directed to arrest of Mahara after the commission formed to investigate the illegal smuggling of gold submitted its report recommending a case against Mahara.

Mahara, his son Rahul, Former Vice President’s son Dipesh Pun, and foreign expert Jeevan Gurung were allegedly involved in the smuggling of 61 kg of gold which was smuggled in a break su on 18 July 2022( Sharwan 2, 2079) and 9 kg of gold in (Electronic cigarette) Vape.
