Muktinath-Purang-Zhong-Tetang road construction begins

The province government has allocated 16 million rupees for the project in the current fiscal year.

Kathmandu: The project to open and upgrade the road connecting 8 of Mustang to Letang via Muktinath-Purang-Zhong has begun.

Information Officer at the Infrastructure Development Office, Ghanshyam Magar shared that under the project blacktopping of four kilometers from Ranipauwa to Zhong will be undertaken by adopting 'premix' technology, and a seven-kilometer new road from Zhong to Tetang will be constructed.

'The contractor company that was awarded a contract has started construction of the track from the Tetang side,' he said, adding that widening of the road has begun for blacktopping in the Ranipauwa-Zhong section in the first phase. The Gandaki province government has allocated 100 million rupees for the project.

The province government has allocated 16 million rupees for the project in the current fiscal year. It is an alternative road to the Kagbeni-Chusang section of the Kaligandaki Corridor. Tourists and pilgrims going to Muktinath temple from Kagbeni will find traveling to Upper Mustang through this road easier.

This road has been given priority as it will facilitate the residents, tourists, and pilgrims of Baragung Muktikshetra, Loghekar-Damodarkunda, and Lomanthang rural municipalities.
