Police arrest woman for forcing a girl into sexual coercion

Kathmandu: Police have arrested a woman in charge of keeping a girl hostage and forcing her to engage in sexual coercion in her house.

Police arrested Sita Gotame (43 years old), who is a resident of Nuwakot Tadi Rural Municipality-3, for forcing a girl into sexual coercion. Gotame was forcing the girl into sexual coercion, in her house located in Mulpani, Kageshwari Manohara Municipality-4, Kathmandu.

Gotame kept a girl in her house for washing dishes and cleaning; allocating a salary of 20,000 rupees per month.

Nepal Police's Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau Spokesperson and Superintendent of Police (SP) Gautam Mishra said it was found that Gotame made the girl a hostage, didnt let her outside, and forced her into sexual assault.

Gotame used to take 1000 rupees to 3000 rupees from customers to force the girl into sexual misconduct. Police rescued 4 girls from Gotame’s house on October 18 ( Kartik 2).

Police said the investigation is ongoing in the case. Police extended Gotame's remand from the court.
