Kathmandu: Republican candidate Donald Trump has been elected as the 47th President of the United States.
Trump has won a second term by defeating Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris.
According to the BBC, Trump secured 277 electoral votes, while Harris only received 224 votes. Trump was first elected as the 45th President in 2016.
Trump also competed in the 2020 election but was defeated by Democratic candidate Joe Biden.
Additionally, the Republicans have won both the lower and upper houses of Congress.
