Kathmandu: Secretary of the House of Representatives (HoR), Suresh Adhikari, has resigned from his position citing health reasons.

Stating health concerns as the reason, Adhikari submitted his resignation to President Ram Chandra Paudel on Sunday. He was appointed as Secretary of the House of Representatives last Asar (June/July). Earlier, he retired as Secretary of the Ministry of Education.

During his tenure in the Nepal government, he held the position of Secretary in various ministries. Shortly after retirement, he was appointed to an equivalent position in the House of Representatives.

The rules for the House of Representatives and the National Assembly allow for the appointment of secretaries from outside. Though he cited health reasons in his resignation, he had reportedly mentioned feeling unfit for the role.
