289 students of Lumbini Buddhist University graduated

Kathmandu: A total of 289 students have been officially graduated in the third convocation ceremony of the Lumbini Buddhist University in Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli graduated those students from various faculties including doctoral candidates on Friday.  On the occasion, PM Oli honoured venerable Bhikkhuni (nun) Dhammawati Guruma with honorary doctorate.

The 91-year-old Guruma, born in Lalitpur district, was feted in recognition of her incomparable contributions towards development of the Buddhist religion, and philosophies as well as towards women empowerment. Also, PM Oli conferred the title of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) on five candidates.
