Prakriti's suspicious death: 6 arrested so far

Kathmandu: A total of 6 people have been arrested in connection with the death of Nepali student Prakriti Lamsal at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT)'s hostel in Odisha, India,

Indian media outlets reported that the number of arrests, in Prakriti's death case, reached six on Tuesday evening after three directors of the university were detained.

Earlier, police arrested an Indian student and two security guards; accused of mistreating a Nepali student, were also arrested in the case.

The Odisha government formed a high-level fact-finding committee on Tuesday to investigate the case and ensure swift justice.

Prakriti Lamsal, a third-year computer science student at KIIT University, was found dead in her room on Sunday. Nepali students staged protests demanding a fair investigation into the incident.

The government of Nepal began diplomatic procedures for the fair investment of the case. The Ministry of Education Science and Technology warned to postpone the NOC letter procedure for Odisha's universities and educational institutions if the case is not dealt with fairly and legally.
