CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Dahal calls for addressing teachers' demands at earliest

Kathmandu: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has stressed that the government should address the demands of the agitating teachers at the earliest.
In a meeting with a delegation of the Nepal Teachers' Federation today, the CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair said the justified demands of the teachers should not be neglected. The Federation is currently on agitation calling for the immediate passage of the School Education Bill from the parliament.
'No matter the number of amendment proposals on the Bill, several of them are similar. The process for immediately passing the bill can be adopted even by forming a sub-committee for this purpose. The main thing is willingness. The government should give priority to the issues of education and teachers,' he said.
Stating that there was no common understanding on the demands of teachers and the overall education sector, CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair and former Prime Minister Dahal urged the government to become serious on addressing the demands of teachers as education is the main basis for the nation's prosperity.
On the occasion, Dahal's Private Secretariat said he also expressed the CPN (Maoist Centre)'s special role in having the bill passed (from the parliament).
