Kathmandu: Nepali people have been celebrating the Nepali New Year 2082 Bikram Sambat (B.S.).
People are welcoming the New Year with grandeur in Nepal and foreign lands on Monday. The first day of the New Year is also celebrated as Baishak Sankranti or Mesh Sankranti.
According to Nepal Panchanga Niryanak Samitee, former Chairperson Madhav Bhattarai, Bikram Samabat is eternal because it moves with the movement of the sun.
