Kathmandu: A protest by teachers during office hours has disrupted vehicular movement in Kathmandu.

As teachers began their protest today (Sunday) at 9 AM, the Maitighar–New Baneshwor road section came to a standstill. The protest caused difficulties for people commuting to their offices.

Since the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) is also scheduled to protest today, the Nepal Teachers’ Federation has rescheduled its demonstration on the Maitighar–Baneshwor road section.

Previously, the federation had been protesting from 12 PM to 3 PM, but Federation President Laxmi Kishor Yadav said Sunday’s protest was moved to 9 AM to 12 PM.

The federation stated that they changed the timing of their protest to avoid possible complications, as RPP had also planned a protest in the same area.

Teachers have been continuously protesting in the Maitighar–Baneshwor area since Chaitra 20 (early April), demanding the implementation of the School Education Act. Although talks have been held with the government, no agreement has been reached, so the protests continue.
