Bikram Thapa Clinches Title at Japan’s Sodegaura Circuit

Kathmandu: Bikram has secured a title in a motorcycle racing event held at the Sodegaura Forest Raceway Circuit in Chiba, near Tokyo.
Covering 8 laps of the 2,400-meter track, Bikram overtook 22 riders to claim the championship on Sunday.
Bikram, who began his sporting career in Nepal through Racemandu, has been living in Japan for nearly a decade, where he is engaged in business and has also established himself on its racing tracks.
Bikram triumphed in the fourth round of the club series for motorcycles up to 373cc single-cylinder or 250cc twin-cylinder, finishing in first position.

As one of the pioneering and veteran riders of Nepali motorcycle racing, Bikram has been a key figure in introducing and popularizing the sport nationally and internationally through Racemandu, Nepal’s first and popular racing platform.
A multiple podium finisher in racing events in Nepal, Bikram has also performed impressively in international competitions such as the Asia Cup of Road Racing and the Suzuki Asian Challenge. In 2014, he was even selected from Nepal for FIA’s Young Drivers Excellence Academy training in Beijing for Formula racing preparation.
Earlier, in 2018, he had also won the Expert Class title of the TK Rental Bike Series held in Japan. In recognition of his achievements, the Nepal Automobiles’ Association honored him with the Champions Award last year.
With hundreds of thousands of Nepalis currently working in Japan and dozens of motorsports enthusiasts now active there, Bikram shared that preparations are underway to formally establish and operate a club called “Moto-Jap Nepal” in both Nepal and Japan, starting last month.
