Bhaktapur: In the wake of the fall of the K.P. Sharma Oli government — triggered by youth-led protests demanding an end to corruption and misgovernance — the Nepali Army was deployed to maintain peace and security. Since then, the situation in the Bhaktapur Durbar area has gradually started returning to normal.

Tourists and locals have begun visiting the Durbar Square for sightseeing and photography. Visitors were seen enjoying themselves in different parts of the historic site. Although not all shops in the market have reopened, some have resumed operations.

The Nepali Army has issued prohibitory orders during the day and a curfew at night. While strict security remains in place within 200 meters of the Araniko Highway, the inner areas are somewhat more relaxed.

In the Taumadhi area as well, some shops have reopened. Although the situation has eased since Wednesday, it has not yet fully returned to normal. According to Dev Prasad Manandhar, a local retailer, festivals like Pulukisi, Bhairavnath’s Yamatā, and the Lakhe dance in Golmadhi have contributed to increased activity today.
