Police arrests Top Bahadur Rayamajhi from Kathmandu

Kathmandu: The Communist Party of Nepal (UML)'s secretary and former deputy prime minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi has been arrested from Budhanilkantha area of Kathmandu.

Rayamajhi was arrested in connection with the fake Bhutanese refugee scandal, said Dan Bahadur Karki, chief of District Police Range, Kathmandu.

Since the arrest warrant was issued on April 3, Rayamajhi had been absconding.  He was in Arghakhanchi district that day. Police has already arrested Rayamajhi's son Sandeep in connection with the case.

Police said that Rayamajhi had come to Kathmandu on Saturday. He was held from a house in Pasikot.

Former home minister Bal Krishna Khand, former home secretary Tek Narayan Pandey, Khand's then personal secretary Narendra KC, former home minister Ram Bahadur Thapa's then security advisor Indrajit Rai are among the 12 people arrested in the case.

Kathmandu District Court on Sunday granted four-day custody to the arrested persons.
