Government reduces fares of long-distance public transport

Kathmandu: The government has reduced the fares of long-distance public transport, following the slash in prices of diesel and kerosene.

The Department of Transport Management has announced the new fares for passenger and freight vehicles after the price of diesel and kerosene was slashed by Rs 10 per litre. The reduced fare will come into effect from today, said the Department.

According to the Department, the fare has been reduced by 3.20 percent for passenger vehicles. The fare of freight vehicles operating on hilly road has been reduced by 4.19 percent while the fare of freight vehicles operating on Tarai roads has been slashed by 4.65 percent.
