Kathmandu: Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Singh Modi has been accorded the highest honors of Papua New Guinea (PNG) and Fiji.
PNG Governor-General Sir Bob Dadae presented the honor to Modi on Monday.
The honor, for Modi, is a rare recognition for a non-resident in PNG and Fiji. Similarly, the PM of Fiji, Sitiveni Rabuka, also accorded Modi the highest honor 'Companion of the Order of Logohu' of the country.
The Prime Minister's office said that the PNG's honor to Modi was exceptional for India. The office said that it was a big honor for India as only a handful of Non-Fijians have received the honor.
Modi reached PNG for hosting a vital summit between 14 Pacific island nations and India for strengthening bilateral ties.
