Yoga be adopted as an integral part of life: DPM Shrestha

Kathmandu: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Narankaji Shrestha has acknowledged the significance of yoga in daily life.
He said,' If yoga is practiced as an integral part of one's life as well as applied scientifically, it will contribute significantly to the transformation of individuals and society at large.'
Minister Shrestha was part of the yoga camp, which was organized by Nepal Police in Police Headquarters in Kathmandu today on the occasion of the 9th International Yoga Day that falls on June 21.
DPM Shrestha said that ancient thinkers, philosophers, and yogis had been taking yoga practice as an integral part of their lives.

Shrestha stated that yoga practice should be extended beyond the individual level. He added, 'Yoga practices and mediation contribute to the process of becoming physically and mentally clean, agile, balanced and in self-transformation.'
Shrestha emphasized conducting yoga camps in Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, administrative sector, and prisons. He said that he had taken the initiative to encourage and promote yoga and meditation institutionally through policy intervention.
Expressing his pride and joy over the delivery of the Nepal Police, the DPM directed the police personnel to perform their duties with more sense of duty to further establish the pride and prestige of the Nepal Police.
Similarly, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Basanta Bahadur Kunwar expressed his confidence that the yoga camp would play an important role in raising awareness about yoga and yoga practices among the police personnel.
Arguing that one could not obtain every information about yoga in a single day and be well-versed in a single time practice, he believed that the event would be useful in imparting knowledge about yoga practice and thereby benefiting them.
