Natural disaster affects 119 families in Panchthar

Kathmandu: A total of 119 families in four local levels have been affected due to floods and landslides in Panchthar. According to the data collected by the security agencies, 574 members of 199 families were affected by the natural disaster in the district.

Of them, 59 members of 14 households have been completely displaced. Similarly, there is a risk of displacing 86 households.

Chief District Officer Mekha Bahadur Mangrati said that floods and landslides had partially damaged 19 houses. Currently, a total of 574 citizens have been displaced from their homes in the district.

The floods swept away six concrete bridges, one baley bridge, and eight suspension bridges. Due to the damage to the bridge, the Phidim-Taplejung section of the Mechi highway, the Majhitar-Taplejung section of the Tamor corridor, the Oyam-Changthapu section of the Mid-hill highway have been blocked. Traffic on dozens of rural roads has also been affected, CDO Mangrati.

So far, one school, three sheds, and 46 cattle sheds have been swept away by the flood. The District Natural Disaster Committee has delivered relief materials to all displaced families.

The details of the damage to the crops have not been collected. Three people have died while another three have gone missing in the flood and landslides in the district.
