Shepherds spot crashed helicopter; Bad weather challenges rescue operation

Kathmandu: Helicopter '9N-AMV' has crashed in Chyan La. Shepherds spot the helicopter in the crashed state.

The crash site of the helicopter is Likhupek Rural Municipality-5. It takes about 3 hours to reach the site.  Ward Chairperson Ngima Chiri said it takes about 2 hours to reach the site by motorcycle.

He said, 'We heard that shepherds spot the chopper in the crashed state. I am going to the crash site. It will take more than one hour to reach the site.'

Manag Air's '9N-AMV' took off from Surke for Kathmandu. Captain Chet Gurung had flown off the helicopter. Mahesh Shrestha, head of the Tenzing Hillary Airport, Lukla, said that there were 5 passengers onboard except the pilot.

Siphunt G Fernandi, Rincon Smar, Siphint Mariya, Gonzalez Olaklo, and Gonzalex Ebrick were the passengers in the chopper.

A helicopter was mobilized to search the contactless chopper. Two helicopters went to the site for the rescue. The bad weather made the rescue more challenging.
