Preliminary hearing on writ against Lamichhane to begin today


Kathmandu: The preliminary hearing on the writ petition against the decision of Attorney General not to prosecute Rastriya Swatantra Party' president Rabi Lamichhane in the passport misuse case will begin today.
A writ against the decision of Attorney General (AG) not to prosecute Lamichhane in the case regarding the misuse of passport was registered on Monday at the Supreme Court.
Plaintiff Yubaraj Poudel filed the writ petition demanding the action against Lamichhane, by a referral order to overturn AG's decision.
In the writ, Poudel stated that Lamichhane was exempted from punishment for misusing passport. He also demanded a mandamus order to be issued in the name of defendant for the fair conduction of investigation into the matter.
The Supreme court's spoke person Bimal Poudel said that the preliminary hearing on the writ was scheduled for Tuesday.
Earlier, AG Dr. Dinmani Pokharel had decided not to file a case against Lamichhane for misuse of passport based on the report from the High Public Prosecutor's Office through the District Public Prosecutor's Office.
