Big challenges to underdeveloped countries to achieve SDGs: FM Mahat


Kathmandu: Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has said achieving sustainable development goals is challenging for underdeveloped countries.
In the third G-20 Finance Ministers and Central Banks Governors meeting that began at Gandhinagar of Gujarat, India, today, Finance Minister Mahat mentioned that the challenges of achieving sustainable development goals in underdeveloped countries have been added due to lack of revenue sources and increasing public debt obligations.
He further said that per capita investment in the health sector could not be increased due to a lack of resources. The Finance Minister, through the conference, called on the international community to provide grant and concessional financial assistance and technical support to underdeveloped and developing countries.
G-20 member countries including America, China, India, Japan, France and Russia, World Bank and International Monetary Fund, Asian Development Bank, and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, have been participating in the conference.
The discussion was held on various issues including the global economy and world health, sustainable finance and infrastructure development, international tax system, and financial inclusion during the third G-20 Finance Ministers and Central Banks Governors meeting. The conference would run till Tuesday. Finance Minister Mahat will return home on Wednesday.
