Weather forecast: rains likely across country, intense rains predicted in Sudurpaschim

Kathmandu: Today there is mostly cloudy throughout the country while light to moderate rain is very likely to occur at most of the places of the country, according to Meteorological Forecasting Division.

As the Division says, today there are chances of heavy to very heavy rain with thunder and lightning at a few places in Koshi Province, Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province, Lumbini Province, Karnali Province, and Sudurpaschim Province, and at one or two places of Madesh Province.

Likewise, it has been predicted to be mostly cloudy throughout the country with the potentiality of light to moderate rain at most of the country's places. Heavy to very heavy rain with thunder and lightning has been forecast at some places of Karnali and Sudurpaschim, and at a few places of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini Province.

It has predicted the chances of extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places in Sudurpaschim Province. The Kathmandu Valley is receiving rainfall since this morning.

The Division says presently the axis of the monsoon trough is located towards the north (near Nepal) from the average position while Nepal experiences influences of a low pressure area surrounding the Utter Pradesh and Bihar states of India.
