Kathmandu Metropolitan City's employees, including Mayor and Deputy Mayor, deprived of salary for last 2 months
Due to the absence of a Chief Administrative Officer, employees ranging from the Mayor to the sanitation staff of the metropolitan city have been left without salaries.


Kathmandu. It has been two months since the employees of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC)have not received their salaries.
Mayor Balendra Shah 'Balen' and Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol have also not received any payments for the last two months.
Both the Mayor and Deputy Mayor, along with other employees of the KMC, have not received their salaries for the months of Poush and Magh.
According to the "Local Body Officials and Members' Facilities Act, 2075" as stated by the Bagmati Province Government, the Mayor of the Metropolitan City receives a monthly salary of 44,000 Nepali Rupees, and the Deputy Mayor receives 41,000 Nepali Rupees per month.
However, due to the absence of a Chief Administrative Officer, employees ranging from the Mayor to the sanitation staff of the metropolitan city have been left without salaries.
The Chief Administrative Officer, Saroj Guragain, has been placed on leave since the 5th of Poush by the Metropolitan City, as he is accused of approving a map of Kathmandu View Tower in violation of rules. The Metropolitan City has formed a committee to investigate him.
