Kathmandu: After days of incessant rainfall that disrupted life across the country, the weather in the Kathmandu Valley finally cleared on Sunday morning.
Since Friday evening, heavy and continuous rain had thrown life out of gear in many parts of Nepal. Long-route transportation was suspended in several areas due to floods and landslides. The government had declared public safety its top priority, mobilising security agencies and rescue teams in flood-affected zones.
In the capital, life is now slowly returning to normal. With the rain subsiding, a gentle morning sun lit up the valley, offering a much-needed respite to residents.
Those displaced by Saturday’s flooding have also begun returning to their homes as cleanup efforts continue. The risks, however, are not over yet.
According to the weather bulletin issued by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, there is a possibility of moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in many areas of Koshi and Madhesh provinces, as well as in some hilly and Terai regions of the remaining provinces.
Additionally, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall at one or two locations in Koshi and Madhesh provinces.
According to the Department, the weather will remain generally cloudy in the hilly regions of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati Province, and other hilly areas of the country, while the rest of the regions will experience partly cloudy conditions.
