NASA Nepal’s 11th General Assembly pledges to build Nepal’s first cross cars by 2028

Kathmandu: Nepal Automobiles Association (NASA Nepal) has successfully conducted its 11th General Assembly in Kurintar, Chitwan. 

The announcement that cross cars will be manufactured within Nepal by 2028 was the key highlight of the General Assembly, which was held on Thursday. 

According to a press release by NASA Nepal, the General Assembly, held under the chairmanship of Association President Dasharath Risal, approved the progress report, the action plan for the next two fiscal years, the financial report and audit report, as well as various contemporary proposals.

Similarly, proposals were unanimously passed to form a task force to draft amendments to the statute and regulations, establish a Motoring Academy, develop professional partnership plans and responsibilities, strengthen secretariat capacity, reinforce provincial associations, and further develop the institution as the leading federation of Nepal’s automobile sector.

A special proposal was also endorsed to award Ashish Bharti—who brought Nepal its first-ever gold medal in the Asia-Pacific Championship in the history of Nepali motorsports—with a Champion Award along with a cash prize of Rs. 100,000. Another key proposal approved was to manufacture Nepal’s first cross-country car within the country and begin racing by 2028.

The General Assembly, involving sectors such as motorsports, motorcycle sports, automobiles and mobility, power boating, sim racing, and drones, also established legal and institutional foundations for the Association’s strategic plans.

The General Assembly was attended by a total of 56 participants, including 46 in-person attendees and 10 proxy participants. Office bearers and members of the Central Executive Committee, office bearers and members from six provincial associations, technical experts, and nominated members were also present in the assembly.

During the General Assembly, Executive Director Govinda Bhattarai, Secretary Mahesh Adhikari, Treasurer Dhanyamani Nepal, Admin Manager Kiran Dhital, and Sports and Event Officer Ankit Bhandari presented various reports.

Advisory Board member Thakur Nyaupane and President of the Koshi Automobiles Association, Prakash Kapuri, delivered goodwill messages. The Assembly was conducted with a welcome address by Joint Treasurer Kamala Chhetri and moderated by Anil Baral. Another Vice President, Sitaram Nyaupane, proposed the agenda, while the closing remarks and vote of thanks were delivered by Secretary Santosh Nyaupane.
