Youth for Road Safety Capacity-Building Workshop concluded in Morang


Kathmandu: A capacity-building workshop on road safety for youth was successfully conducted at Manmohan Smriti Polytechnic, Morang, under the “Voice of Youth for Safe and Sustainable Mobility” initiative.
According to a press statement from NASA Nepal, more than 115 youths, mainly from Koshi and Madhesh Provinces, participated in the workshop.
Facilitating and coordinating the workshop, Subash Bhattarai, Coordinator of the Voice of Youth for Safe and Sustainable Mobility campaign, highlighted the current road safety situation in Nepal and emphasized the roles of local governments, concerned stakeholders, educational institutions, and young people in ensuring safe and sustainable transportation.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Ashok Karki of the Nepal Police motivated the youth to become responsible citizens through education, discipline, and proper behavior, explaining road safety as an integral part of civic duty.
Similarly, Assistant Sub-Inspector Manmohan Paudel from the District Traffic Police Office, Morang, provided practical information on safety measures to be adopted by pedestrians, drivers, and vehicles.
Kiran Dhital, Coordinator of Youth for Road Safety in Nepal, presented on the major causes of road accidents, preventive measures, the importance of certified helmets, safe riding practices, and ways to effectively mobilize youth in road safety activities.
The Nepal Automobiles Association (NASA Nepal) and Youth for Road Safety in Nepal, in collaboration with Manmohan Smriti Polytechnic and the NASA Foundation, jointly organized with support from the FIA Foundation.
The program, attended by traffic police, road safety experts, teachers, youth, and students, included discussions on the roles of government agencies and young people in road safety.
A Road Safety Team was also formed to implement various road safety programs in Koshi and Madhesh Provinces.
Concluding the program, Engineer Sudip Adhikari, Principal of Manmohan Smriti Polytechnic, stated that youth and educational institutions play a vital role in improving road safety and expressed commitment to further expanding road safety–related programs in the coming days.
At the end of the program, certificates were jointly distributed to all participants by Engineer Sudip Adhikari, Bikalpa Paudel, Treasurer of the Koshi Province Automobile Association, and Engineer Lochanraj Neupane, Coordinator of the Polytechnic’s Training Department, among others.
