Kathmandu: The 16th Republic Day has been celebrated in Tundikhel. A special ceremony was organized to mark the 16th Republic Day on Monday.
President Ram Chandra Poudel, Vice-President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dalhal 'Prachanda', as well as officials of constitutional bodies and representatives of diplomatic missions in Nepal addressed the ceremony.
On 28th May 2008 (Jestha 15, 2065), the monarchy was formally ended and there was the announcement of the beginning of the federal democratic republican system of government. This began the celebration of Republic Day on Jestha 15 every year.
