Supreme Court cancels appointment of Koshi Province Chief Minister Thapa

The full bench of Chief Justices Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada, Dr. Ananda Mohan Bhattarai, and Til Prasad Shrestha ordered the cancelation of Thapa's appointment.

Kathmandu: The Supreme Court has canceled the appointment of Koshi Provoince's Chief Minister (CM) Uddav Thapa.

The full bench of Chief Justices Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada, Dr. Ananda Mohan Bhattarai, and Til Prasad Shrestha ordered the cancelation of Thapa's appointment.

The main opposition party CPN(UML) had filed a case in the Supreme Court,  stating the direct involvement of the Speaker while electing the CM.

Province Head Parshuram Khapung announced the formation of a new government after the former CM Hikmat Kumar Karki failed to gain a vote of confidence. Thapa was appointed as the CM of Koshi province on 6th July.
