Kathmandu: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has corrected his previous remarks regarding Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, India.
Addressing a program in Kathmandu on Saturday, Deuba clarified that his earlier statement was based on incorrect information. Last week, Deuba had claimed that Yogi Adityanath had visited the Nepali Embassy in Delhi and expressed that he was not in favor of restoring the monarchy in Nepal.
However, correcting that statement, Deuba said, 'The other day, I spoke based on wrong information regarding the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. He did not visit the Nepali Embassy. It was Nepal’s Ambassador to India, Shankar Prasad Sharma, who visited and met him.'
Deuba expressed regret that his mistaken comment may have misled the public and caused misunderstanding.
He also remarked that the current government is facing significant criticism, and he hopes such disrepute does not continue.
'The government is currently facing a lot of disrepute, and I hope this doesn't persist,' he added.
