Nepal GoodWeave Foundation concludes 30th Annual Social Audit, Elects new Executive Committee

Nepal GoodWeave Foundation (NGF) concludes its 30th Annual Social Audit and 30th Annual General Meeting (AGM)Kathmandu: The Nepal GoodWeave Foundation (NGF) has successfully concluded its 30th Annual Social Audit and 30th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Kathmandu.
With the participation of representatives from national institutions, local governments, non-governmental organizations, and the carpet industry, the Social Audit Session, chaired by NGF President Ubaraj Bhandari, was attended by Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Murari Prasad Kharel, as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, Kharel commended NGF for its consistent efforts in rescuing children from forced labor and emphasized the need for stronger coordination with provincial governments, businesses, and human rights mechanisms to further strengthen child protection initiatives.
Special guests Bhagawati Sangraula, Shanta Thapa, and Devi Khadka praised the Foundation’s long-standing contribution to social accountability and child rights, expressing their commitment to providing continued institutional support. Advisor and founding chairman Binod Karki reflected on the Foundation’s early beginnings and its steady progress over the past three decades. Similarly, Chairperson of the Carpet Association, Balaram Gurung, highlighted NGF’s significant role in enhancing the international credibility of Nepali carpets by promoting ethical production practices.
General Secretary Kiran Thapa presented the annual program report, reiterating NGF’s commitment to strengthening its monitoring, rehabilitation, and child protection systems. Concluding the session, President Bhandari assured that all constructive recommendations provided by stakeholders would be incorporated into future programs.
During the Annual General Meeting, Treasurer Kalpana Timilsina presented the financial report. The AGM also elected a new Executive Committee for the 2025–2027 term. Ubaraj Bhandari was re-elected as President, while Balaram Gurung was elected Vice President. Kiran Thapa was elected General Secretary and Kalpana Timilsina as Treasurer. The newly elected members include Shirjana G.C., Aatmaram Chapagain, Chitra Bahadur Basnet, Anju Shrestha, and Amir Bhattarai.
