Kathmandu. Nepal was defeated by the West Indies in the final match of the Unity Cup T20I series.

In the game played on Tuesday at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Dubai, Nepal lost by 10 wickets.

Despite losing the last match, Nepal clinched the series 2–1. Earlier, Nepal had won the first game by 19 runs and the second by a massive 90 runs.

On Tuesday, chasing a modest target of 123 runs set by Nepal, the West Indies reached the target in just 12.2 overs without losing a wicket.

For the West Indies, Amir Jangoo and Ackeem Auguste were unbeaten at 74 and 41 runs respectively. Although six Nepali bowlers were used, none managed to claim a wicket.

Earlier, losing the toss and put in to bat, Nepal was bowled out for 122 runs in 19.5 overs. Despite losing the final match, Nepal won the series 2–1. Earlier, Nepal had secured victories by 19 runs in the first game and by 90 runs in the second.

Nepal had a steady start, losing the first wicket only in the 9.5th over. Opener Kushal Malla was dismissed for 12 runs. The other opener, Kushal Bhurtel, contributed 39 runs with 2 fours and 3 sixes off 29 balls. However, after his dismissal, Nepal’s batting collapsed.

In the 9.5th over, West Indies captain Akeal Hosein bowled a tossed-up fuller delivery targeting middle stump — known in cricket as a “tossed-up fuller on middle.” This type of ball tempts the batter to attack but risks dismissal if mistimed.

Kushal leaned forward, switched his stance to play a switch hit, but directed the ball straight to the fielder at first slip and was out.

Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel was dismissed for 17 runs, while Gulshan Jha managed only 10. Arif Sheikh scored 6, Lokesh Bam 9, Adil Ansari 3, Sompal Kami 4, and Karan KC was dismissed for a duck.

For the West Indies, Ramon Simmonds took 4 wickets, while Akeal Hosein and Jason Holder picked up 1 wicket each.

Nepal played the series against the West Indies as part of its preparations for the ICC T20 Asia Cup Regional Qualifier, which begins next week in Oman. The Nepali team will now depart for Oman directly.
